Progressive Personal Income Tax Reform

According to Jeff Stein at the Washington Post, the economists Emmanuel Saez and Peter Diamond calculated that raising the marginal tax rate for the top 1% would generate about $300 billion per year (this is more than Ocasio-Cortez' plan of raising the rate for those above $10 million in income). This includes taxing capital gains at the same rate as income.
